Our progressive curriculum is designed to guide you through the beautiful journey of Brazilian Zouk, ensuring you grow and thrive at every stage. From the basics to advanced techniques, our structured system consists of 8 modules divided across four key stages: Initiation, Improvers, Intermediate, and Advanced.
Each level builds on the previous one, helping you develop a solid foundation, refine your skills, and master the art of Brazilian Zouk with confidence, flow and joy!
On top of this, we also offer bonus courses and weekend bootcamps that are not part of the progression but will add a lot of benefit to your dance journey.
All our pricing and booking options can be seen below, but please note if you are booking multiple courses at once (i.e. Module 3 & a Spotlight Course) there are ‘bundle discount’ options available when buying!

Drop in Classes
We know life can get hectic, so while we don’t usually encourage drop-ins, we do offer some flexibility.
You can drop in during the first two weeks on any of our 8 week modules, regarding you’ve completed the previous one – For example, to drop into Module 3, you must have completed Module 2.
You can also drop into our mid-week ‘Spotlight course’, but this is only possible for week 1 or week 2.
We also offer every Monday night at Bar Salsa in Temple as a Drop in class.

Module 1 - Intro to Zouk

Perfect for beginners, this module offers a welcoming introduction to the fundamentals and flow of Brazilian Zouk.
You’ll start with the basic steps, essential rules, and rhythms, all designed to help you become a good social dancer. Whether you’re new to Zouk or transitioning from other dance styles, this is the perfect starting point to build a strong foundation.

Module 2 - Mastering the Foundations
(8 Weeks)
This course is designed to solidify your foundational knowledge and prepare you for more advanced techniques.
In this module, we’ll deepen your understanding of Zouk’s core principles and build upon the basics learned in Module 1.
You’ll be focusing on the vertical axis and advancing your lead and follow skills.
By the end of this course, you’ll be able to confidently dance socially, feel comfortable with dancers of any level, and possess a strong foundation for progressing to more complex Zouk movements.

Module 3 - Exploring Frame and Connection

Welcome to the Nerd level… Now is the time to dive into the intricate details of frame and connection. This module is for those who are passionate about perfecting their technique and understanding the subtleties of Zouk. You’ll explore how body frame and connection impact your dance, requiring focused study and practice.
By the end of this course, you’ll not only master these intricate details but also significantly boost your confidence and technique. You’ll feel more connected and fluid in your movements, and if you fully embrace the lessons, you’ll be among the top 30% of dancers in the London Zouk scene. You’ll gain a reputation as the dancer “you’ve got to dance with,” making your social dance experiences more enjoyable and rewarding.

Module 4 - Body Awareness and Head Movement: Enhancing Expression and Ease
(8 Weeks)
Discover the art of integrating head movements with your Zouk fundamentals.
This module emphasises body awareness and fluid head motions that are perfect for creativity and bringing magic to your social dancing.
You’ll learn how to incorporate head movements into your dance with ease and style, making your dance experience more expressive and enjoyable for both yourself & partner.
By the end of this course, you will have got to grips with the flow and feeling of head movements, enhancing your connection with your dance and partners. You’ll feel more confident and graceful, breathing naturally through each movement. Not only will you gain valuable dance skills, but you’ll also learn life lessons in mindfulness and body awareness.
This course will leave you feeling more connected to your body and more expressive in your dance.

Module 5 - Back to the Roots: Rediscovering and Reimagining Iconic Zouk Moves

Travel back in time with this module as we revisit and reimagine the most iconic and famous steps that have made Zouk what it is today!
You’ll delve into the variations and feelings of these movements, learning the important differences between, ‘traditional’, ‘current’ and even ‘Lambada elements’ and get to breathe the cultural significance of the dance.
This course will introduce you to new techniques and fresh concepts that you haven’t encountered before.
Here, you’ll connect the dots, enhancing your understanding of Zouk’s rich history and its ever-evolving techniques, whilst gaining a new level of creativity for your dance.Â

Module 6 - Advanced Head Movements and Turns: Mastering Complex Dynamics

This course will push your limits with advanced head movements combinations and turn variations.
This module focuses on integrating head motions with traveling turns, spins and tilts, offering a much more complex and dynamic approach compared to our ‘spotlight series course’.
Prepare to explore the intricacies of grounding, breathing and flow, becoming a more expressive and fluid follower and an exceptionally comfortable and confident leader.
Head movements are without doubt the most challenging yet rewarding aspects of Brazilian Zouk – By the end of this module, you’ll not only enhance your technical skills but also achieve a new level of expressiveness and confidence in your dance.

Module 7 is our only on-going module, meaning you have the flexibility to join at anytime (providing you have the level).
In this module, you’ll tackle cutting-edge techniques and intricate flow combinations tailored for experienced dancers eager to push the limits. Perfect your routines, uncover advanced methods, and refine your style in a continuously evolving setting.
This course is the gateway to the highest level we offer, the invitational ‘Zouk Lab’ with Pedrinho Mattos, for the best Zouk dancers in London.

Module 8 - Invitational Advanced Zouk Lab: By Invitation only
The Advanced Lab at UKDC is our most exclusive and elite program, reserved for the most dedicated and skilled Zouk dancers.
By invitation only, this module offers a unique opportunity to explore Zouk’s cutting-edge possibilities in a smaller, more intimate setting.
In this high-caliber lab, you’ll merge techniques from various artists and styles to forge your own dance identity. You’ll delve into experimental combinations, tackle challenging concepts in a fun and creative way with our famous “Ring of Fire” and “Zouk Charades,” to push the boundaries of conventional Zouk classes.

Head movements in Zouk are more than just combinations & techniques – they embody the dance’s fluidity, creativity, and unique expressiveness. These movements are integral to what makes Zouk so captivating and are also among the most challenging elements to perfect.
Each bootcamp lasts 2.5 hours and is designed for dancers of all levels. Whether you’re leading or following, we’ll guide you in controlling your body, applying the best practices for safety, and achieving a relaxed, comfortable motion.

To move on to the next module, you need to attend at least 75% of your classes.
This helps ensure that you’ve really mastered the content before moving forward. If your attendance is below this, you’ll need to either repeat the course, pass a test to move up, or book a private lesson to catch up.
